About the Role

The Employability Tutor is responsible for delivering structured employability and personal development sessions for interns, supporting their progress in workplace placements, and ensuring their wellbeing and safeguarding needs are met. The role requires close collaboration with job coaches, employers, parents and carers to ensure interns are supported holistically.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning

·        Deliver engaging curriculum sessions during morning and afternoon 'bookend' sessions.

·        Teach employability skills, workplace expectations, independence, and personal development.

·        Differentiate learning to meet the needs of young people with additional learning needs.

·        Track learner progress and contribute to individual learning targets.

·        Support interns with job coaching – training in systematic instruction and supported employment techniques.

Key Responsibilities – Intern Support & Wellbeing

·        Act as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Champion for interns.

·        Promote positive wellbeing, confidence, and resilience.

·        Identify and record safeguarding concerns and follow organisational safeguarding procedures.

·        Maintain accurate records of intern progress, wellbeing, and incidents.

EHCP & Professional Collaboration

·        Attend Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews where required.

·        Provide progress updates and professional input into review meetings.

·        Work with education professionals, support staff, and external agencies.

Employer & Family Engagement

·        Develop and maintain positive relationships with the on-site employer.

·        Act as a key point of contact between the programme and workplace supervisors.

·        Maintain regular contact with parents and carers to share updates and address concerns.

·        Attending recruitment and selection events.

Team Collaboration

·        Work closely with Job Coaches to support interns in the workplace.

·        Provide additional support to Job Coaches when required.

·        Contribute to team meetings and programme development.

Skills & Experience

·        Experience delivering employability or life skills education.

·        Strong understanding of supporting young people with additional needs.

·        Knowledge of safeguarding and wellbeing practices.

·        Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

·        Any other duties specified by the leadership team.

·        Strong organisational and record‑keeping abilities.


Desirable

·        Experience working with supported internships or SEND programmes.

·        Delivering functional skills math's and English

·        Understanding of EHCP processes.

·        Training or qualifications in education, youth work, or employability support.

·        Experience liaising with Access to Work

·        A full UK driving licence (if travel between sites is required).
